Ogensnoep – 2/3 – Process

Ogensnoep (Eyecandy).
Artwork for 24 Electric utility boxes (size XL-S) throughout the Klarendal neighbourhood, Arnhem. Project by Stichting Plaatsmaken, commissioned by the City of Arnhem.

Drawing by Elin.

Source: I carefully studied the children’s drawing, looking for components that could fit the project.

The drawings sparked lists of keywords that helped me build a collection of scale independant vector components, mostly purchaced from Stock agencies, often Shutterstock and Freepik. Part was drawn by myself, or found on Etsy.

Looking for components that both are neutral, well drawn (also technically) and versatile.

Source: Collections of animals by Studio Ayutaka: well made and very cute material to work with!

The boxes were drawn schale 1:10 in Adobe illustrator (what else?!), placed next to each other from large to small. Next step: thinking of themes so each box would have its own content.

Step by step, an large still life/landscape of objects and creatures is taking shape.

We want cake!!!

Getting away from the screen is crucial to see what can be improved.

New and old media.

Not only for girls…

The front and side surfaces of the boxes are part of the composition.

Fastfood, cute animals and slime…

24 boxes = a drawing of 36 meters in total!
