RietveldTV’s Approximately Ten Tour #7: Mailbox by Harmen Liemburg
While being a graphic design student at the Rietveld Academy during the second half of the nineties, Harmen Liemburg started to collect gallery invitations, seasonal greetings and other printed ephemera he received through postal mail.
Combined, these objects offer a myriad of moods, textures and patterns that have strongly influenced his own work. Although nothing can beat digital communication in terms of speed and reach, throughout the years his fondness for sending and receiving small printed objects stayed very much alive.
The collection is still growing. From 2010-2015, Harmen ran the silkscreen workshop of the Rietveld Academy.
