Hello, my name is Harmen Liemburg. I’m a graphic designer/screenprinter/educator, often working on the autonomous side of the professional spectrum, but always open for assignments.
For each project, I’m immersing myself in the visual aspects of a certain topic, including clichés or apparent trivia.
I see beauty in everyday traffic signs, logos, packaging design and other ephemeral materials that most people take for granted or maybe don’t even notice at all.
The visual buildingblocks that I’m constantly collecting, are redrawn and adjusted for the screenprinting process. By combining them with others, the separate elements take on a new role and meaning. Together they are telling a new story.
I never know where I’ll end up beforehand, but I trust that my research and working process will take me to an interesting place. This way, each project is a graphic exploration in itself, expanding my knowledge about visual and material culture.
And when the work is done, you can usually find me somewhere outside on a bike, in a kayak, or camping out in the wild…
