Hello, my name is Harmen Liemburg. I’m a graphic designer/screenprinter, working for both clients and on self initiated projects.
For each project, I’m immersing myself in the visual aspects of a certain topic, including clichés or apparent trivia.
Material culture fascinates me. I see meaning and beauty in everyday traffic signs, clothing, packaging materials and other ephemera that many people are taking for granted or maybe don’t notice at all. History, geography and many other things inform the work as well.
The visual buildingblocks that I’m collecting, are often redrawn and adjusted for the screenprinting process. By combining them with others, the separate elements take on a new role and meaning. Together they are telling a new story.
Graphic explorations
I never know where I’ll end up beforehand, but I trust that my research and working process will take me to an interesting and rewarding place. This way, each project is a graphic exploration in itself, leading to new experiences and knowledge.
And when the work is done, you can usually find me somewhere outside on a bike, in a kayak, or camping out in the wild…
