This year, Lava graphic designers asked Dutch writer Toon Tellegen to come up with a short story ‘De Nieuwe Tijd’ (A New Era) that should be visualized by a group of various artists.
My contribution was inspired by the biblical and rather grim content of the story, starting with a Latin inscription that is found on old gravestones: Hodi Mihi, Cras Tibi (It is my lot today, yours to-morrow…).
Two out of five spreads.
Hendrikse Zeefdruk, who sponsored my section, did an incredible job screenprinting the solid silver and white areas (in UV drying inks) on the thin black paper (something I could never do myself using waterbased inks).
