This project for the SieboldHuis in Leiden put me in the footsteps of my Dutch ancestors

located on the small island and tradingpost Dejima, formerly in front of Nagasaki's coastline,
now part of the city.

In November and december 2006, I stayed in Nagasaki to do research and collect material
for the upcoming show. The goal was to connect the historical collections of the SieboldHuis

with Japan's contemporary material culture.

The very inspiring local 'Kunchi Matsuri' festival that is being held every year.

For CCK I focused on Japanese candy packaging design that is much more interesting
that it's European counterpart. The material was selected and processed to fit my
design and printing methods.

Preparing colour separations for prints based on combinating sweets designs.

By rotating the sheets between printruns, lots of combinations could be made.
