This is Bas Oudt, one of my former teachers at the Gerrit Rietveld academy.
Being both offsetprinter and graphic designer, Bas is one of the few people who really knows
how to make use of printing technique in a physical and creative way. In that respect he's been
a bit like a rolemodel who stimulated me to do what I do now.
Some examples of the work by Bas Oudt:

As a teacher at the Gerrit Rietveld academy in Amsterdam, Bas mananged to convey his strong
and unconventional design philosophy to his freshman students, without ever being forcefull.

Starting Spring 2008, a group of his former students started a project in which they
reacted to his work and many fascinations; from Sinatra to Callas, from Copier glass to Bibendum.
Every 2 weeks, we discussed the project's progress during our 'Summerschool' sessions.

May 2009, the book was finally ready to be printed...

... a rather complicated job due to the many different materials.

The binding of the dustjackets (with a selection of Oudt's sources)...

... had to be done elaborately by hand... by ourselves! That took a few days.
Some spread from the book:

My own booklet was printed on black paper, which is complicated because you
have to think in reverse:

Colour 1: Opaque white (screenprint)

Colour 2: Cold Black (offset)

Colour 3: Silver (offset)

Colour 4: Warm Black (offset)
Alltogether, the book introduces Bas Oudt's designs to a broader audience, and offers
an exiting exploration to the outskirts of graphic design and printing technique.
I think it's a heartfelt hommage to Bas and his graphic oeuvre!
