Longlegs Wallpaper

Longlegs
Pattern design for Maharam wall covering product in various colours (discontinued as of 2016).

After participating in the 1 in 10 Pattern Design Project, spring 2009, Maharam, the high end manufacturer of interior fabrics, chose to develop one of my proposals, and make it a wall covering product.

The largest element in the design is a Crane fly (also known as Daddy Longlegs), or Langpootmug in Dutch. A clumsy and harmless insect that is very common in Europe.

The pattern is an adaptation of a design (screenprinted white on transparent self adhesive foil) I previously did for Fletiomare, a public swimmingpool in Leidsche Rijn that opened its doors January 2009.
